This first edition of the club newsletter update is focused on the new court booking system which is in process. This is one of the new improvements being put in place at the club.
We are now going to use a system by MyCourts (https://okehamptonsquash.mycourts.co.uk/) and all courts will need to be booked online using this system. You will shortly be sent a separate email from the MyCourts system where you will be asked to create your own password. The email will contain your username. Please note that MyCourts is a cloud based system and therefore if you wish to use via your phone then you will need to bookmark on your chosen browser. Once done, it will be possible to book, check court bookings, check your account balance on any device
To allow you to book a court you will be asked to make payment to build credit on your account. This will require payment by card. The current minimum amount to add credit to your account is £10. This will be reviewed periodically.
This will be made as payment to Okehampton Squash Club's account and will help towards the cost of the new booking system.
At the start it will cost 50p per 30 minute session - this will be shown as a booking fee. Until the next step is implemented (see below) then the cost of lights and heating will still need to be covered by tokens.
Please note that the cost of tokens has been changed to £1.50p (from current price). However, the token now covers 30 minutes of court lighting/heating rather than 20 minutes - which means the effective price of the token has remained the same. we have made this change to bring tokens in line with the 30 minute booking slots available on the system.
We also intend to make payments for things like coaching, club night and inter-club tournaments easier by requesting payment via your account, rather than dealing in cash.
The second stage is then to move onto linking the booking system with the court lights, with the aim that we no longer require tokens for court lighting/heating - but the cost will be directly debited from your MyCourts credit. We are working towards implementing this second stage over the next few months. We are looking for external funding support to allow us to do that.
There may be teething problems with the new system, but we are confident that it will provide a more robust and professional platform for court bookings to be made, and for us to communicate to club members.

Finally, we will hopefully running our first open tournament for members over the coming weeks. This will be advertised using the MyCourts system - do keep an eye out for that.
Do spread the word about the club - we are still keen to attract new members whatever squash level they're at. We're thinking of introducing an 'introduce a friend' scheme whereby your MyCourts account could be credited with an amount if you introduce a new member.
